Eye surgery coming in April for Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer
By Adam Carlson
Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will need some more work done on his eye, and is planning on getting the procedure done in April of 2017.
It is a strange thing when a coach misses a game during the NFL season, but that was the case when Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had to undergo emergency eye surgery during the 2016 NFL season.
Since then, he rejoined the team and was seen wearing an eyepatch, but more work will need to be done to repair his eye. However, that procedure will need to wait for a little while, as there is still work to be done.
Recently, the Pioneer Press took part in a Q&A with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman where they discussed many topics regarding Minnesota’s football team. Zimmer’s eye was one of the points of talk.

"“He has another surgery coming up; I think it’s in April. He’s putting it off because of the travel we have coming up over the next month and a half. But he will get his eye surgery done in April, and hopefully that will resolve everything.”"
Likely, the team wants to evaluate their current roster, look at free agents, and check out the talent available in the draft. The time period between the draft and the start of OTA’s will be a time when Zimmer won’t need to be in such high demand, making it an optimal time to have the work done.
Hopefully, this procedure will completely repair the issue and restore vision completely for the head coach. However, there is something to be said for the image of Mike Zimmer standing on the sidelines wearing his eye patch that will never be forgotten by fans.
