The New York Giants have signed former Minnesota Vikings tight end Rhett Ellison to a 4-year deal on the first day of 2017 free agency.
So far, the Minnesota Vikings haven’t signed any new faces to the team, but several former members of the team have packed their bags and headed to a new team during the free agency frenzy of day 1.
One of those individuals who will have a new home is tight end Rhett Ellison. With the resurgence of Kyle Rudolph and excellent play of David Morgan, Ellison became lost in the shuffle while dealing with injuries.
Here is Adam Schefter reporting the signing of Rhett Ellison by the New York Giants on his official Twitter account:

The fact that Ellison’s 4-year deal is fully guaranteed is a bit surprising considering he struggled with knee issues. However, when healthy, he is an excellent blocker and underrated pass catcher who should immediately help the Giants.
New York also let Will Tye walk in free agency. so signing Ellison fills a hole and upgrades upon their current situation. He will join one of the most explosive passing attacks in the NFL, where he could greatly improve his receiving numbers from previous years with the Vikings.
Ellison was a 4th round draft pick for the Vikings in 2014 who was used primarily as a run and pass blocker. He still caught 3 touchdowns and ran in 1 more in his 5 seasons with Minnesota and totaled 515 receiving yards in that time.

The Viking Age would like to wish Rhett Ellison the best on his future with the New York Giants and thank him for his time spent with the Minnesota Vikings.
