Report: Matt Kalil not expected to re-sign with the Vikings
By Adam Patrick
The Minnesota Vikings’ former first-round draft pick will reportedly head to the Carolina Panthers to play on their offensive line with his brother.
Since he was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, offensive tackle Matt Kalil’s tenure with the Minnesota Vikings has been one that closely resembled a Six Flags roller coaster. Well now, it seems like his time in Minnesota is likely coming to an end after just five seasons.
The news should not be a huge surprise, but it is still a bit of a shock since the Vikings do not really have a backup plan for left tackle that anyone is aware of right now. Kalil did struggle at times while in Minnesota, but he was much more serviceable than when T.J. Clemmings pretended to play left tackle in 2016.
So what will the Vikings do now? Who knows, but they have to do something because rolling into next season with Clemmings as their left tackle is not an ideal option.

Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman is already treading on a bit of thin ice this offseason and now he has to go and find someone to protect his quarterback’s blind side. Good luck Rick!
