The Minnesota Vikings are still working hard to improve the offensive line, reportedly reaching an agreement with free agent tackle Mike Remmers.
Improving on key positions can be a real challenge in free agency. This offseason, the biggest need for the Minnesota Vikings was the offensive line, which was in very high demand from other squads around the NFL as well.
Massive deals were being handed out to both guards and tackles by several teams, with the Vikings landing former Detroit Lions tackle Riley Reiff. But they weren’t quite done yet, as it is being reported another tackle would be coming to Minnesota.
The news of the Minnesota Vikings signing former Panthers offensive lineman Mike Remmers was reported by Ian Rapoport on Twitter:

Vikings fans may be familiar with Mike Remmers. He spent some time on Minnesota’s practice squad in 2013 and 2014 before a brief stay with the Rams and eventually finding a new home with the Carolina Panthers.
With Carolina, Remmers got his first regular season action in week 13 of the 2014 season against the Minnesota Vikings at right tackle. Based on his performance, he remained in that spot for the rest of the year.
Minnesota is likely bringing Remmers in to compete for the starting right tackle position, meaning the team is either happy with Riley Reiff on the left side or have other plans in the works. Either way, it is great to see the Vikings building more depth along their offensive line.

Of course, anything can happen with these deals as they go from rumor to report to agreement and finally to a signed contract. However, signing Mike Remmers shows just how serious the Minnesota Vikings are about improving their offensive line situation.
