The former Minnesota Vikings running back will reportedly meet with the team that cost him a trip to the Super Bowl back in 2009.

Since the 2017 NFL free agency period began a few weeks ago, former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has met with just two teams and still does not have a contract to play in the upcoming season. Neither the Seattle Seahawks or New England Patriots were apparently impressed enough with Peterson’s current state to offer him a spot on their 2017 roster.

After striking out with his first two visits this offseason, the running back will reportedly meet with the New Orleans Saints sometime next week

More from The Viking Age

The Saints have a legitimate starting running back in Mark Ingram for next season, but their current backup situation may be why they could consider adding Peterson to their roster. The former Vikings running back could provide New Orleans with a potentially dangerous one-two punch in their backfield to go along with their above average passing attack.

If Peterson does in fact sign a deal to play with the Saints next season, he will still play at least one game in Minnesota as New Orleans is one of the eight teams the Vikings will host at U.S. Bank Stadium during the 2017 regular season.

How would he be welcomed back? Would he receive a standing ovation from Minnesota’s fans or would he hear a stadium full of boos as soon as he stepped foot onto the field in a Saints uniform?

Whatever the reaction may be, it still remains a hypothetical because as of right now, Peterson remains unemployed and wondering if he will ever play in the NFL again.
