Terence Newman might return to Minnesota Vikings after retirement
By Adam Carlson
Terence Newman seems like he could play in the NFL forever. But when he finally retires, there is a big opportunity for him with the Minnesota Vikings.
Less than a week after calling Terence Newman a sleeping bear, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer seemed to show an even bigger piece of praise to the veteran cornerback according to a recent report.
According to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, there is an opportunity with the Vikings after Newman retires that is always on the table, and it is something that could be hugely beneficial to the team’s young defensive backs.
Here is what Chris Tomasson wrote in his article:
"“Newman has an open invitation from Zimmer to join his coaching staff following his playing career. Newman said it’s “possible” he could join Zimmer but said it wouldn’t be anything that happens right away.”"

Of course, Newman seems to be an ageless wonder. At 38 years old, the cornerback is still playing at extremely high levels and generating a ton of praise from both the coaching staff and professional outlets.
But there will come a day when Terence Newman hangs it all up for good. The bad part is that fans might have absolutely no clue when that day will be according to a statement from Newman.
"“Whenever I’m done, I’m going to take a year off and just do some things that I haven’t had an opportunity to do,’’ he said. “So, that would be at least two years away from now if I were to be done at the end of this year.’’"

It would be great to see Terence Newman bring his aggressive and blue-collar approach of play to the Minnesota Vikings in a coaching capacity. Working with the young players in an official capacity would be a great opportunity for everyone involved to learn from someone with so much long term success at a tough position in the NFL.
