Sam Bradford did a solid job of leading the Minnesota Vikings on offense last season, but he looks to take on ‘more of an ownership role’ with the team.
During the 2016 season, Sam Bradford didn’t have much of a chance to settle into his new role with the Minnesota Vikings. Acquired following a devastating knee injury to Teddy Bridgewater at practice, Bradford had a limited amount of time to prepare to be the team’s starting quarterback.
This season, the situation is much different. Bradford now has a full offseason at his disposal to work with the offense and the coaches can better suit the offense to his strengths rather than those of Bridgewater.
Not only that, but Sam Bradford himself is ready to take on this bigger role with the team as well. According to an article on the ESPN website, head coach Mike Zimmer has stated that the quarterback has “more of an ownership role” in the offense.

Last year’s leading receiver Adam Thielen had nothing but praise for the job Sam Bradford did last season, but is quite impressed with the level of communication and instruction the veteran quarterback is giving his teammates.
"“It is crazy because during the season, it was almost like he had been there all offseason, so for us now to have an offseason on top of that, what we did last year, it is great. Obviously him talking to us, telling us how he likes things done, how we like things done, kind of getting on the same page. That is what this is all about. I think we have gotten off to a great start.”"
Bradford’s limited time with his teammates last season didn’t seem to hurt him too much. He set an NFL record for completion percentage while having two receivers with 900 or more yards and threw touchdowns to six different players.

It will be interesting to see how much different the Minnesota Vikings offense looks when it is made to fit Sam Bradford and the quarterback’s teammates have a full offseason to work with him. Hopefully, it will result in a more high-powered offense to help the franchise be more competitive in 2017.
