Minnesota Vikings legend Alan Page honored by school name change
By Adam Carlson
Former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman and Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan Page was honored with a middle school being named after him.
Fans of the Minnesota Vikings remember Alan Page best for his amazing professional football career as part of the legendary Purple People Eaters defense, but now young people at the former Ramsay Middle School will know his name as well.
The Minneapolis Board of Education voted to rename the school and one of the many suggestions for a new name was Justice Page Middle School in honor of his contributions to the state as well as being the first African-American justice in Minnesota.
Southwest Journal shared some photos from the name change ceremony on June 15, 2017 featuring the former Vikings legend on their official Twitter account:
Page himself is nothing but honored by the name change. His humble nature was expressed well in his comments at the ceremony as captured by the Southwest Journal.

"“Just to have been considered was pretty exciting,” Page said. “To have it actually happen was beyond anything I could have hoped for.”"
The students of the school are very proud of the name change. One of the biggest things Alan Page stresses at all times is learning how to institute change fighting for what you believe in, and the kids learned some valuable lessons during the process.
"“You can make a big change if you work hard,” eighth-grader Corinne Sidebottom said.Added sixth-grader Sylvia Thompson: “I’m kind of in awe of what we’ve done.”"
