Brett Favre has made a big impact on the NFL and has been the inspiration for many quarterbacks, including Taylor Heinicke of the Minnesota Vikings.
The Minnesota Vikings seem to really like quarterback Taylor Heinicke. The young passer seemed to be in line for a backup job during the 2016 season before an off-field injury put a damper on those plans.
However, the future is once again looking bright for Heinicke. With only 3 quarterbacks on the Vikings roster and Teddy Bridgewater on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, it appears as thought Heinicke should be a lock to make the 53 man roster.
Recently, the quarterback spoke at training camp in Mankato and the local CBS affiliate was on hand to get some video of the conversation. Here is that discussion as shared on the official WCCO CBS website:
One of the most fun takeaways from this conversation is just how much Heinicke looked up to Brett Favre, even before the gunslinger ever suited up in a Vikings uniform.

"“Just seeing the passion he had for the game, how much fun he had out there,” Heinicke said. “He was kind of a gunslinger and he liked getting hit. It was just fun watching him. He’s one of the main reasons I played football.”"
Favre had to wait his turn to become a starter in the NFL. After sitting behind Chris Miller during his rookie year in 1991, it took a change of scenery to Green Bay in order to get the quarterback his first start.
Heinicke is still hopeful that his opportunity will come eventually, but he also knows that hard work and determination are needed to make it happen.
"“I think every quarterback can kind of attest to that. At some point in their life, you know usually they’re the man throughout high school and college and then you get to this level and then you sit back and watch,” Heinicke said. “Again for me, I started junior year of high school and senior year, and then started four years of college and then get here, and you’re third string.”"

Only time will tell what the future holds for Taylor Heinicke with the Minnesota Vikings, but for now it appears as though the quarterback is working hard to make the most of every opportunity he gets.
