Minnesota Vikings WR Rodney Adams touchdown catch vs Bills
By Adam Carlson
Quarterback Taylor Heinicke connected with wide receiver Rodney Adams for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter of their week 1 preseason game against Buffalo.
With the Minnesota Vikings up 7 points in the 3rd quarter against the Buffalo Bills in their first preseason game of the 2017 NFL season, the team wasn’t done putting points on the board in the game.
Driving down the field thanks to strong runs and a nice passing attack by quarterback Taylor Heinicke, the ball was on the 2 yard line on 3rd down when a passing play was called by Minnesota.
Here is the scoring play by Rodney Adams in the Vikings first preseason game as shared on the official Twitter account of the Minnesota Vikings:
After failing on a back shoulder throw to Isaac Freuchte and a run that went nowhere, Taylor Heinicke got another chance to throw in a score.
Dropping back, Heinicke was met with pressure. Scrambling to his right, the defender followed him and was between receiver Rodney Adams and the quarterback. Putting some extra height on the throw, Heinicke was able to get the ball to his target, but the play wasn’t done there.
Catching the ball at the 2 yard line, Adams turned toward the end zone and started his run. With a defender closing in, the wide receiver made a leap for the goal line, extending the ball in his hands hoping to break the plane.
His efforts were rewarded, as the ball broke the plane and the Vikings took a 14 point lead after the Kai Forbath extra point.
