The Minnesota Vikings have re-branded and improved upon their previous charitable organization by strengthening it both financially and structurally.

Minnesota Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf and chief operating officer Kevin Warren announced on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 that there would be a change in how they run their charitable activities going forward.

No longer would the organization be going forward with their Vikings Children’s Fund, instead replacing the fund with a broader foundation in order to focus better on the community and open more opportunities for community involvement.

Mark Wilf discussed the newly formed Minnesota Vikings Foundation on the official website of the team:

"“It is our pleasure to introduce today the Minnesota Vikings Foundation, a new charitable organization with a primary focus on advancing the well-being of youth through engaging health and education initiatives,” Wilf added. “We are proud to launch this effort dedicated to bettering the lives of children and families in this region.”"

More from The Viking Age

Of course, the Minnesota Vikings have always been active in the community, especially when it comes to children. Hospitals, schools, playgrounds, and health initiatives have always been a part of the program, but now can be done on a larger, and more organized, scale.

Vikings COO Kevin Warren is very proud of how the organization is so focused on improving the living conditions of children in the state.

"“We strongly believe we have the fiduciary responsibility, not only for Mark and his family as Owners of the Minnesota Vikings, but for every Minnesota Vikings employee that works here.” Warren said, “We want to make a difference in the lives of our youth here, not only from a health and wellness standpoint, but also from an educational standpoint."

Speaking of ‘fiduciary responsibility’, The Wilf Family Foundations and the Minnesota Vikings got the ball rolling with the foundation by making an initial deposit of $1 into the charity to provide cash for grants and a nutrition initiative.

"“Our goal is to create programs, to do grant-making — including a food truck initiative that we plan to launch in 2018 — so that as we look back over the course of this Foundation that we can say we helped make a difference,” Warren added. “We’re honored to stand here before you today to launch this new Minnesota Vikings Foundation.”"

The Minnesota Vikings Foundation will continue to great things in the community, in particular for the youth of the state with their new and existing initiatives. Huge thanks go out to The Wilf Family Foundations and the Minnesota Vikings for the huge initial deposit in the charity to ensure the program will be successful for many, many years to come.
