The Minnesota Vikings roster cuts were coming in at a rapid pace on Saturday, and notable names include Isaac Fruechte and Mitch Leidner

It’s cut day around the NFL. That is a sad day for every franchise in the league, including the Minnesota Vikings, who will have to inform many people that they are out of a job by 4 pm ET on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Of course, this means that a lot of talented young athletes and even some established veteran players will be hitting free agency and teams will be frantically searching to fill their practice squad or find a player who has slipped through the cracks.

Since there was no cut day earlier in the preseason, all the cuts will happen much closer to the deadline. Here are the players who have been reported to be informed of their release from the Minnesota Vikings:

More from The Viking Age

There are some surprises on this list. Most notably, the release of starting offensive guard Alex Boone. It has been reported that Boone was approached about a pay and refused, leading to his release.

The release of offensive lineman T.J. Clemmings signals that the team is done trying to find a spot for him on the roster and that the depth at the interior offensive line positions basically outplayed him.

Also, veteran defensive lineman Will Sutton was one of the early cuts. There was hope that he could benefit from a change of scenery, but the tackle was unable to find a home and will likely get looks elsewhere.

Finally, Minnesota had discussed how much they like cornerback Jabari Price, but a struggling preseason put him in the doghouse and he never recovered, putting up a very disappointing performance in the team’s final preseason contest.
