Despite the Minnesota Vikings struggles against the Dolphins in week 4 of the preseason, 2 players earned a spot on Pro Football Focus Team of the Week.

Sitting the team’s starters and struggling to score points or stop the opposition, the Minnesota Vikings didn’t exactly put on a stellar performance at home in week 4 of the NFL preseason against the Miami Dolphins.

Even though the team struggled, there were some excellent performances from a couple of Vikings players. Those individuals impressed the people at Pro Football Focus, who recognized two offensive players for their preseason team of the week!

Here are the two players from Minnesota who earned a spot on the PFF preseason week 4 Team of the Week:

WR Cayleb Jones, 91.3 overall grade

"“After posting just three grabs for 26 yards through three preseason games, Jones exploded Thursday night for nine catches (on 10 targets) for 127 yards. Vikings QBs had a rating of 152.1 when throwing to him, the second-highest mark of the week.”"

Jones caught the only touchdown of the night for the Vikings, putting on an excellent display that may have helped his case for landing on the team’s practice squad this year.

RT Willie Beavers, 82.3 overall grade

"“Beavers had easily his best game of the preseason, as he was charged with just one hurry, earning a pass-blocking grade of 85.0. His run-blocking was still average (72.3), but his performance should be seen as encouraging considering the five total pressures he gave up in week three.”"

More from The Viking Age

Week 3 was very disappointing for the offensive lineman, but his rebounding in week 4 was a sign that he could have a future in the NFL. Considering he excelled in pass protection, it would be great to see more of this from him in the future wherever the future takes him after being released by Minnesota.

Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins had 3 players from their team land on the PFF week 4 Team of the Week, which isn’t a surprise considering how much the Vikings struggled in this contest. Here are those players:

  • QB David Fales
  • WR Jakeem Grant
  • LB Chase Allen

Up next, the regular season. The Minnesota Vikings will take on the New Orleans Saints in week 1 of the regular season on Monday Night Football, and hopefully several members of the team will make the PFF team for that week!
