Vikings WR Stefon Diggs to rock cleats honoring Randy Moss
By Jordan Ison
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs is breaking out some awesome cleats honoring Randy Moss in Monday’s season opener vs Saints.
The Minnesota Vikings are entering their season opener against the New Orleans Saints as 3.5 point favorites. Stefon Diggs, the Vikings star receiver, will try to channel a former Viking great heading into the 2017 season.
Diggs led all Minnesota receivers last year in catches with 84 and finished second in receiving yards with 903. While many believe that Diggs had his breakout year in 2016, many Vikings fans believe this year will be the best year for the young receiver out of Maryland.
In his attempt to break out even more in 2017, Diggs has decided to honor a former Viking great, Randy Moss, with his cleats on Monday Night.
Although Moss spent his career between 5 different teams, there’s no doubt his best performances came in Minnesota. From 1998 – 2004, Randy Moss stayed the Vikings’ top receiver and gave them 6 1,000+ yard seasons.

- Predicting what the Vikings will do in the 2023 NFL Draft based on 2022
During his 7 year tenure as a Viking, Moss had 574 receptions for 9,142 yards and 90 touchdowns. Easily, he went down as a Viking fan favorite and a sure future Hall of Famer.
The Vikings have had a receiving drought of sorts for quite a while now. They haven’t had a 1,000 yard receiver since Sidney Rice in 2009. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen both came very close last year, as they both finished above 900 yards, but could not surpass the 1,000 mark.
Stefon Diggs has a very good chance of breaking that streak in 2017. Channeling his inner Randy Moss would spark a nice start. If the offensive line can hold up for Sam Bradford, Diggs is a solid deep-threat. If not, Diggs may have to get a bulk of his yardage in yards after catch (YAC).
Going up against a mediocre defense in the New Orleans Saints, the Minnesota Vikings’ offense should be able to thrive on Monday Night. Here’s to hoping Stefon Diggs can have a Randy Moss-like campaign in 2017.
