Dalvin Cook took the field for the first time in a regular season game for the Minnesota Vikings and set a franchise record for rushing yards in a debut.

In week 1 of the NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings were scheduled to take on the New Orleans Saints and the media focused heavily on the return of running back Adrian Peterson to the land of 10,000 lakes.

Peterson ended the game with 6 rushing attempts for 18 yards, but the big story at the running back position came with rookie Dalvin Cook, who accumulated 127 rushing yards on 22 carries in his first professional game.

According to CBS Sports, this performance from Cook was good enough to net him a franchise record for earning the most rushing yards in an NFL debut.

More from The Viking Age

The record was previously held by Adrian Peterson, who rushed for 103 yards in his Vikings debut. However, with Minnesota attempting to grind down the clock and make New Orleans use their time outs, Cook saw extra work and broke off a 33-yard run to help seal the game.

And how did Dalvin Cook celebrate this accomplishment? CityPages shared a story of him going to a closed restaurant called Lotus Uptown on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis and made himself a stir fry.
