Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his Week 1 performance against the Saints on Monday night.

When the New Orleans Saints came to U.S. Bank Stadium to take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 on Monday Night Football, the home team was up to the challenge and put on a strong performance against a tough squad.

One of the most surprising performances of the night came from the Minnesota offense, which was clicking on all levels, punting only twice in the entire game and scoring three touchdowns in the contest.

There was a particular performance which has caught the eye of the league. Quarterback Sam Bradford was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1 as announced on the official Twitter account of the Vikings:

Last season, Bradford broke the NFL record for completion percentage in a season. The year before that, he set the franchise record for the same stat with the Philadelphia Eagles. This season, he appears to be on track to have an amazingly high percentage again.

Completing 27 of his 32 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions, Bradford looked unstoppable on Monday Night Football, completing passes into very tight windows and taking shots down the field.

Perhaps the most impressive statistics from the night were the 10.8 yards gained per attempt and Bradford only being sacked once during the contest. Both these stats prove that when given time to work, Minnesota’s quarterback can get results.

After the game, Bradford gave the offensive line credit for his excellent performance, thanking them for buying him time in the pocket to complete passes and allow plays to develop. However, the excellent decision-making and accuracy of the quarterback showed that Sam is well-deserving of praise.
