Sam Bradford played his best game as a member of the Minnesota Vikings and arguably the best game of his career Monday night against the New Orleans Saints.

Heading into the 2017 NFL season, one of the biggest knocks on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford was that he can’t throw the ball downfield. Well, he made that his mission to prove that he can during the Vikings season opener. He outperformed opposing quarterback Drew Brees and it was not even close.

Last season Sam Bradford set an NFL record for completion percentage that was previously set by Drew Brees. With poor offensive line play, Bradford was forced to get rid of the ball quickly and he did a fantastic job at that. So far this season Bradford looks more comfortable throwing the ball around with an improved offensive line.

During the game Monday night, Bradford threw 8 completions downfield that were 15 yards or more. That tied a franchise best since Brett Favre did it 2009. His passes were spot on and timing looked excellent with his receivers.

Bradford ended the game with a QB rating of 143. That was by far his best performance of his career. Bradford did not have a bad season by any means last year and his best QB rating was 123.1 in a win against the Houston Texans. Against the Saints on Monday Bradford ended the night going 27 of 32 with no interceptions. He also threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns. He was sensational, to say the least.

When Bradford has the time, he has the ability to make throws that not many quarterbacks in the NFL can make.

Congratulations to Sam Bradford on winning the Week 1 Minnesota Vikings Offensive Player of the Week. If he continues to play at that level the Vikings will be a hard team to defend.
