Multiple reports have Bridgewater returning to Vikings by midseason

The Minnesota Vikings could get to see Teddy Bridgewater back on the field and under center sooner than later.
When the Minnesota Vikings decided to begin the 2017 season with Teddy Bridgewater on the Physically Unable to Perform list, it was not much of a surprise. Bridgewater is coming off a major knee injury and the Vikings were in no rush to get him back on the field.
But now it is starting to sound like Minnesota could be adding their young quarterback back to the active roster in a few more weeks. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Bridgewater will be ready to play by midseason.
Rapoport was not the only NFL Insider with a Bridgewater injury update on Sunday. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer also had his own report on the Vikings quarterback.
Based on the recent uncertainty surrounding the health status of Sam Bradford, Minnesota could really use a Bridgewater return sooner than later. But since he began the year on the PUP list, he cannot be activated until after the Vikings’ sixth game of the season.
Keep in mind, Bridgewater has yet to be cleared to play by team doctors and there is no guarantee of him returning to the field at all in 2017. His knee injury was not one that anyone around the league is used to dealing with.
The Vikings deciding to just have the quarterback sit out the entire 2017 season would not come as a total shock.
But if Bridgewater is indeed able to return to Minnesota’s active roster, expect an overwhelming amount of pressure to be put in the coaching staff to make the correct decision about their quarterback situation. But until then, the Vikings have to worry about the current signal callers who actually are a part of their active roster.
