When they head to Chicago in Week 5 for a Monday night matchup with the Bears, the Minnesota Vikings may be facing a rookie quarterback.
When it comes to playing in Chicago recently, it is never an easy task for the Minnesota Vikings. No matter what the Bears’ record is at the time these two teams face off in the Windy City (1-6 when they met in Chicago last season), the Vikings always seem to find a way to struggle.
Well when these two squads meet in Week 5 for a matchup on Monday Night Football, Minnesota’s defense may see a rookie under center for Chicago according to Cover 32’s Benjamin Allbright.
Immediately, most would think this bodes well for the Vikings. However, the Bears have 10 days to prepare for this game and Minnesota does not have a ton of tape of Trubisky to work from.
The Vikings are hoping their experience on the defensive side of the ball will be enough to prevent Chicago’s rookie quarterback from leading his team to a win in his NFL regular season debut.

During his three years at the University of North Carolina, Trubisky was not a starter until he was a junior in 2016. But he performed very well in his first season as the school’s starting quarterback, throwing for 3,748 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. Trubisky even ran the ball into the end zone five times for the Tar Heels last year as well.
The Bears obviously liked what they saw from the kid, as they traded four draft picks to the San Francisco 49ers just to move up one spot in the 2017 NFL Draft and select Trubisky second overall.
With the early struggles by veteran signal caller Mike Glennon during the team’s first four games this year, Bears head coach Jon Fox declared on Thursday night that there were going to be some changes made before their game against the Vikings in Week 5. Obviously, one of those changes will be inserting Trubisky into their starting lineup.

So for his first regular season game in the NFL, the Bears’ rookie quarterback gets to face a Minnesota defense that features two Pro Bowlers along the defensive line in Everson Griffen and Linval Joseph.
Good luck kid.
