Week 5 Ups and Downs: Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
By Adam Carlson
Overall impression vs Chicago
The Minnesota Vikings came into Chicago and just struggled to get going. While the defense played at its usual high level, the offense couldn’t do anything led by Sam Bradford, and many fans, especially on social media, got frustrated very quickly.

There was some fear that the game was falling apart early. Mitchell Trubisky did a great job getting some easy throws early on by using his mobility and college experience. It does look like he’s got a bright future in Chicago.
Meanwhile, the bright spot for the Vikings is the defense. Only allowing one touchdown and one field goal, Xavier Rhodes, Harrison Smith, and the Minnesota defense kept the game within reach for the offense.
Jerick McKinnon had a great night other than the fumble on special teams. His strong, shifty running was a big key in the Vikings coming away with a win in Week 5 on Monday Night Football in Week 5.
As a whole, this game should be a positive one for Vikings fans and it should quiet any rumblings of Sam Bradford coming back until he is much closer to a full recovery from his knee situation. You can admire Bradford’s heart for wanting to play, but it just isn’t the best thing for the team.

Next week, the Minnesota Vikings return home to take on the Green Bay Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 6 of the NFL season. Now at 1-1 in the division, this is an important game for the Vikings stay relevant in the division race.
