The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Washington Redskins in Week 10, but how much (if any) did that change the experts’ opinions of the team?

Everything seems to be going well for the Minnesota Vikings after a rocky start to the year. Losing a starting quarterback and running back would usually be enough to make an NFL team irrelevant in today’s league, but the boys in purple are pushing through.

Minnesota is on a five-game winning streak, on top of the NFC North and tied for the second-best record in the league at 7-2. Even without having pass rusher Everson Griffen available, they defeated the Washington Redskins in a game that wasn’t as close as the score made it look.

Yet, not everyone is buying into what the Vikings are doing. Some see the team flopping down the stretch or a quarterback controversy heating up in a big way. However, one thing for certain is that the team is being taken more seriously than ever after that big win.

Here is how the Minnesota Vikings are being ranked on expert power rankings heading into their Week 11 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Ranked 3rd

Ranked 5th

  • Bleacher Report – Chris Simms: With Keenum, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen adding punch to the passing attack, the Vikings are dangerous and a legit Super Bowl contender.” (Up 1 spot)
  • Pro Football Talk – Mike Florio: The movie is getting good, but longstanding Vikings fans know how it will end.” (No change)

Ranked 6th

  •  CBS Sports – Pete Prisco: If Case Keenum can continue to put up good numbers, like he did against the Redskins, they can beat anybody.” (No change)
  • ESPN.com“Case Keenum has the third-best Total QBR this season (72.5). He has been sacked just once since Week 4.” (Down 2 spots)
  • NESN – Jason Schock: “How far can Case Keenum take Minnesota? We’ll find out when the Vikings host the Rams in Week 11.” (Up 4 spots)
  • NFL.com – Elliot Harrison: Keenum-to-Thielen (eight hookups for 166 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets) was the most unstoppable connection on the planet — the world — Sunday.” (No change)
  • Sports Illustrated – MMQB Staff: Highest-Place Vote: Third, Lowest-Place Vote: Seventh (5)”  (Up 2 spots)
  • Washington Post – Mark Maske: Bridgewater’s comeback is to be admired and his future still could be great. But for now, he should be the fallback plan in case Keenum begins to struggle.” (Up 1 spot)

More from The Viking Age

Ranked 7th

  • Bleeding Green Nation – Brandon Lee Gowton: ” Case Keenum threw four touchdowns against Washington. It seems like he’s playing over his head and is bound to regress.” (Up 2 spots)
  • Chicago Tribune – Brad Biggs: “Case Keenum is likely to keep the starting job for now — and he should — but if he slips up, look for a move to Teddy Bridgewater soon.” (Up 1 spot)
  • New York Daily News – Manish Mehta: What was cooler? Teddy Bridgewater shedding tears after his long road back from a grievous knee injury or Case Keenum throwing four touchdowns?” (Up 2 spots)

Ranked 8th

  • USA TODAY SportsIn a season with so much league-wide adversity, the return of QB Teddy Bridgewater is easily one of the most uplifting stories of the year.” (Up 4 spots)
  • Yahoo Sports – Frank Schwab: If the Vikings keep this up, Mike Zimmer will get some consideration as coach of the year.” (Up 1 spot)

As you can see, most experts either had no change for the Vikings or moved them toward the top of their power rankings. ESPN was the lone organization who have Minnesota in a freefall after a decisive win on the road against a quality opponent.
