Since being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, tight end Kyle Rudolph has been scoring quite a few touchdowns and has moved into the top 5 of the franchise.

There are some amazing players who have suited up for the Minnesota Vikings since their first season in 1961 and some of them have scored a lot of touchdowns for the purple and gold over the years.

One such player is tight end Kyle Rudolph. Since being drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Rudolph has been a great help to the Vikings quarterbacks, giving a big receiving option with a huge catch radius, especially in the red zone.

In week 12 of the 2017 season, Kyle Rudolph scored two touchdowns on passes from Case Keenum. And while that alone is an impressive feat, there was a lot more to it than points on the scoreboard.

Those two touchdowns on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions were the 33rd and 34th of his career, which moved him past former Vikings wide receiver Jake Reed on the list of most touchdowns for Minnesota since he had 33 according to Pro Football Reference.

More from The Viking Age

The 34th touchdown tied him with Vikings Ring of Honor wide receiver Ahmad Rashad for 5th most in franchise history.

Here are the Vikings franchise leaders according to Pro Football Reference:

  1. Cris Carter, WR – 110
  2. Randy Moss, WR – 92
  3. Anthony Carter, WR – 52
  4. Sammy White, WR – 50
  5. Kyle Rudolph, TE and Ahmad Rashad, WR – (TIE – 34)

At only 28 years old, Rudolph has a lot of football ahead of him to continue building toward perhaps reaching top 3 in franchise history.

Congratulations to Kyle Rudolph on tying for the 5th most receiving touchdowns in Minnesota Vikings history and it will be exciting to watch him continue to move up the leaderboard as his career continues.
