Minnesota Vikings special teams grade: B-

Kicker Kai Forbath went 2 for 3 on fields goals and converted all of his extra point attempts, but that doesn’t tell the whole story of his.

More from The Viking Age

The two successful field goals were automatic chip shots, though one tied the ballgame up. Forbath came out with a chance to close the gap to one possession in the form of a 52-yard FG. Not a single person in the world thought he was going to make it. He shanked the kick so hard it was impossible for the Panthers’ to have a chance at blocking it.

His struggles have been well-documented, as have the Vikings’ history with special teams’ follies. At this stage, Forbath in a clutch opportunity is the last thing Minnesota fans want to see, especially as playoffs draw near.

Punter Ryan Quigley was his usual mediocre self but had one exceptional punt that pinned the Panthers back on their own 2.

Returner Marcus Sherels had a nice return to give the Vikings excellent field position during their comeback attempt (an interception was thrown on the drive).
