Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs was one of the few bright spots on a night where the team’s offense struggled to get much going against the Green Bay Packers.

For the majority of the 2017 season, Adam Thielen has been getting the most recognition (and rightfully so) of any of the wide receivers on the Minnesota Vikings’ roster. Sometimes, it is easy to forget that the Vikings have another uber-talented pass-catcher in Stefon Diggs to throw to also.

Well, Diggs definitely made his presence felt during Minnesota’s Week 16 win over the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. The Vikings receiver scored the team’s only touchdown of the game and lead all Minnesota pass-catchers with a total of five catches for 60 yards.

The pass Diggs caught in the end zone for the Vikings was definitely one of the most impressive receptions he has made all season long.

Some may feel like Thielen has emerged as the Vikings’ number one receiver this year, but Diggs just as capable of taking over a game at any point in time.

More from The Viking Age

The attention Diggs draws from opposing defense may actually be playing a big part in the success Thielen has had in 2017. With everyone doing their best to not get embarrassed by Diggs, Thielen has seen more one-on-one coverage this year and taken full advantage of it.

With just one game remaining this season, it does not look as though Diggs will be able to finish the year with at least 1,000 receiving yards. For that to happen, the Minnesota pass-catcher would have to end next week’s game against the Chicago Bears with at least 216 yards.

Stranger things have happened (especially against the Bears), but a 1,000 yard season for Diggs does not seem too likely.

However, the receiver’s role has still been a vital part of the Vikings’ success on offense in 2017, as exhibited by his team-leading, seven touchdown catches. It seems safe to assume that Minnesota and Diggs are not too concerned with the receiver’s statistics as long he continues to help the team earn victories this season.
