After Week 16, Las Vegas oddsmakers have the Minnesota Vikings with the second highest chance in the NFL to come out of the 2017 season as Super Bowl champions.

Before the beginning of the 2017 NFL season, some felt the Minnesota Vikings could make a little noise around the league. Maybe win the NFC North and possibly a playoff game, but very few saw the Vikings experiencing the kind of success they have actually had so far this year.

Well thanks to them winning 10 of their last 11 games, the oddsmakers in Las Vegas currently have Minnesota as one of the top two favorites to win Super Bowl 52 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

According to ESPN’s Ben Fawkes, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook currently has the Vikings’ Super Bowl odds at 4-1, second only to the New England Patriots. rounding out the top five behind Minnesota and the Patriots are the Pittsburgh Steelers (9-2 odds), New Orleans Saints (7-1), and Los Angeles Rams (9-1).

The Vikings’ Super Bowl odds are the best in the entire NFC, while the number one seed in the conference, the Philadelphia Eagles, have just the fourth-best shot in the NFC (12-1) at winning the big game according to Westgate.

More from The Viking Age

Even Las Vegas believes that it is going to be difficult for the Eagles to do much in the playoffs with Nick Foles as their quarterback.

Considering Minnesota’s very first odds to win the Super Bowl began at 25-1 this year, the team’s success in 2017 clearly has many people believing the Vikings can become the very first team in NFL history to play the league’s final game of the season in their home stadium.

This may not only be due to Minnesota’s current 12-3 record, but the fact that the team’s defense ranks atop the league right now in yards against, points against, and 3rd down percentage may also have something to do with oddsmakers putting their faith behind the purple and gold.

Next: Sam Bradford to play again this season?

If the Vikings are able to close out their season with a win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday and capture a first-round bye in the playoffs, it would not be too much of a surprise if Minnesota’s Super Bowl odds became even better.
