Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss has been named as a finalist for induction in the 2018 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
It’s always great to see Minnesota Vikings players get recognition. With the team going 13-3 during the 2017 season, much focus has been placed on the current team, but there are former players who deserve some attention as well.
Two NFL greats who used to play for the Vikings have been named as finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Wide receiver Randy Moss is one of those former Minnesota players among the 15 players who have a chance of being inducted as part of the 2018 class.
Here is the announcement made from the official Twitter account of the Pro Football Hall of Fame:
Let’s be honest. Randy Moss is part of the reason why many younger Vikings fans got attached to the team. The explosive wide receiver was with the Vikings from 1998-2004 and returned for a stint in 2010 but also spent time with the Raiders, Patriots, Titans, and 49ers.
Moss ended his career with 982 catches for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns in 218 games played. His career spanned from 1998 to 2012 but transitioned to a job behind the cameras as an analyst for FOX.
Randy Moss also holds numerous records in the NFL, and here are just a few of those:
- Most touchdown receptions in a season – 23 (2007)
- Most seasons with 17 or more touchdown receptions – 3 (1998, 2003, 2007)
- Most touchdowns scored in first 10 games with a new team – 16 (2007)
- Youngest player in NFL history to record his 100th receiving touchdown (29 years and 235 days)
- Most receiving yards before 30th birthday – 10,700
- Most TD receptions before 30th birthday – 101
