Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph was named the 2017 recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award as voted on by his teammates.

Each year, the Minnesota Vikings vote among the players on the team to name one individual as the Ed Block Courage Award winner. This year, that prestigious honor went to veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph as revealed by the official Minnesota Vikings website.

Rudolph has been a class act throughout his career with the Minnesota Vikings as well as his time in college with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, donating a significant amount of time and money to charities.

For those unfamiliar with the Ed Block Courage Award, here is a bit about what it means to be recognized for the award and some of the things that come along with the honor according to the award’s official website:

"“The Ed Block Courage Award recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength and dedication. He is also a community role model. With this honor, he enters into an association which contrasts his fierce profession by becoming a major component of the Courage House National Support Network for Kids. He becomes an Ambassador of Courage for victims of abuse, violence and neglect.”"
