The Minnesota Vikings announced on Saturday that the quarterback has been added back to the active roster after sitting out with a knee injury since October.
Aside from their success this season, the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback situation has been the most talked about topic of conversation of the year. It began as soon as Week 2 and has now continued all the way up to the day before the team’s divisional round playoff matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Since his forgetful first-half performance in the Vikings’ Week 5 win over the Chicago Bears, Sam Bradford has been sitting out on the sideline with a knee injury. Well, the Minnesota quarterback may actually be in a team uniform on the sideline against the Saints after what the Vikings announced on Saturday.
Less than 48 hours before their first NFC divisional round game since 2009, Minnesota revealed that they had removed Bradford from injured reserve and placed him back on the team’s active roster. With the decision, the Vikings also waived tight end Kyle Carter.
News of Bradford’s activation began to heat up on Friday when the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin cited a league source that Minnesota planned to dress the quarterback for Sunday’s game. This specific aspect of the report is still unclear, but it definitely appears closer to becoming the truth with the quarterback’s activation on Saturday.
Despite Bradford being removed from injured reserve, the Star Tribune is reporting that Teddy Bridgewater will still be the number two quarterback behind Case Keenum on Sunday.

If this is true, it’s possible that Bradford could suit up as the team’s third-string option against New Orleans, but Minnesota has not had three quarterbacks active for a single game since Leslie Frazier was the team’s coach in 2013.
However, a source close to the team has told The Viking Age that Bridgewater will actually be among the Vikings’ inactives on Sunday. This would indicate that Bradford would likely be the next man up if something were to happen to Keenum during Minnesota’s matchup against the Saints.
With the announcement on Saturday, Bradford now joins Bridgewater, Keenum, and Kyle Sloter as the fourth quarterback on the team’s active roster. Keeping Sloter around with this move is just another indication of how much the Vikings do not want the rookie getting scooped up by another team.

At least there’s no argument about Keenum being Minnesota’s starter anymore, right?
