Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter spoke on First Things First about what he felt during the Minnesota Vikings playoff win against the Saints.

Minnesota Vikings fans are riding high after the team executed an unbelievable and highly improbable last-second victory over the New Orleans Saints with a walk-off touchdown seen and heard around the world.

One fan that had an amazing feeling of emotion overcome him was former Vikings wide receiver and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Cris Carter, who was in person at U.S. Bank Stadium to see the amazing events unfold in person.

Carter talked with Nick Wright about his emotions during the game the next day on the FOX Sports show First Things First:

Carter was right about one thing. The immense feeling of dread followed by such great elation was a huge moment for any fan of the game.

"“That’s the damndest football game I’ve ever seen.” Carter said."

One reason Carter is so high on this win is that he has seen the opposite side of that situation too often. When it comes to the Vikings, getting excited and then getting let down has become a theme. But that changed on Sunday.

"“To able to see them finally have some success, finally have the bad luck fall on someone else’s side, finally for the card to come that their 5% chance, it came true. Yes, yes. My team! Yes. Not as no player. No, no. My football team, the team I cheer for, like millions of other fans do. Like, oh man. If I could have threw my clothes off and gotten naked and did a snow angel, oh my god. Man, it’s amazing.”"

While naked snow angels are not recommended in the cold Minnesota weather, it is great to see his level of excitement about the franchise and overcome the odds to have some electricity during the playoffs.

Carter has felt excited before. His team was a favorite to win the Super Bowl but fell short in 1998. Minnesota had another shot in 2009 when Favre brought his magic to the Vikings. But there’s something different about this team this year.

"“I thought myself, Randy Moss, Jake Reed, Robert Smith, I thought we were going to do it. I thought we were going to be able to put away the ghost of Alan Page, Ahmad Rashad, Sammy White, Fran Tarquin. But we weren’t. All right? It wasn’t our turn. But this team right here, it’s the best team that the Vikings have had since 2009 where Brett Favre took them to the NFC championship and they lost to the Saints there. So I’m very excited for the team and for the organization.”"

Cris Carter may be a Hall of Fame wide receiver, but he still bleeds purple and gold much like the other Minnesota Vikings fans out there. And he is right to be excited about the team this year. There is something special here.
