Current Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is reportedly leaving next season for a head coaching job and the team will need to find someone to replace him.

In less than a month, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to say goodbye to current offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Due to his outstanding work with the team’s offense this season, Shurmur became a hot candidate for multiple teams in search of a new head coach this year.

After interviewing with a number of teams around the NFL, Shurmur will reportedly become the next head coach of the New York Giants once his current season with the Vikings comes to an end.

His departure is unfortunate, but it’s also a normal occurrence during each and every offseason around the league. Following the team’s offensive explosion in 1998, Minnesota went through a similar situation as offensive coordinator Brian Billick left to be the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens.

With Shurmur’s expected exit, who will the Vikings appoint as his replacement for the 2018 season? Will Minnesota promote from within or will they bring in a brand new guy to lead their offense?
