The Minnesota Vikings have signed six players to reserve/futures deals in advance for the 2018 NFL season, and some of them are familiar faces to the team.

It is never too early to get started in the offseason and the Minnesota Vikings were quick to make some transactions after being eliminated from the NFL playoffs in the Conference Championship Game by the Philadelphia Eagles.

For Minnesota, the focus this offseason will once again to cast a wide net of great athletes to narrow down to a strong roster and practice squad, and the Vikings have already brought in some fringe players to compete in 2018.

The team announced on their official website the names of six players who were signed to reserve/futures deals and will likely be a part of the team when training camp rolls around.

More from The Viking Age

Here are those players signed this week:

  • Dieugot Joseph, OT, Florida International
  • Cedrick Lang, OT, Texas-El Paso
  • Caushaud Lyons, DT, Tusculum
  • Ifeadi Odenigbo, DE, Northwestern
  • Horace Richardson, DB, Southern Methodist
  • Antwione Williams, LB, Georgia Southern

If some of those names sound familiar it is because they were either former draft picks of the Vikings, undrafted free agents, or were players who spent at least some time on the practice squad this year.

Being signed to a reserve/futures contract is no guarantee that these players will be around for the 2018 preseason or even training camp. The team will continue to make moves to position themselves to be as competitive as possible going forward. However, these signings mean that the team wants to take a longer look at these players in particular.

Congratulations to these six players on earning another look from the Minnesota Vikings and getting at least one more opportunity to achieve their NFL dreams with a young team that will be extra hungry during the 2018 season.
