Following the heartbreaking end to the Minnesota Vikings Super Bowl hopes, attention for the franchise now shifts to the offseason. Free agency, the NFL Draft, and staffing decisions will need to be made in order to ensure that the team is competitive next year.
While the team can’t sign outside free agents until March 14th, the Vikings have likely been evaluating nearly every possible free agent out there. And their evaluation includes players expected to be part of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The draft will be held on April 28th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and can be seen on ESPN, ESPN2, and NFL Network. Due to Minnesota’s exit from the playoffs in the Conference Championship round, the team knows they will be selecting at #30 overall.

In the history of the franchise, the Minnesota Vikings have never made a selection at #30 overall, which means we could have a franchise first happen if the team doesn’t trade out of that spot in the first round.
Also, Minnesota will not have selections in the 4th and 7th rounds of the draft due to trades to acquire Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles and Tramaine Brock from the Seattle Seahawks.
Here are the rounds where the Vikings do have selections according to the team’s official website:
- Round 1
