Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf feels that the team’s setback this year will only make it sweeter when ‘one day soon, we will get the Lombardi’.

The 2017 NFL season looked at one time like it was destiny for the Minnesota Vikings. With Super Bowl 52 being at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis and the ‘Miracle’ with Case Keenum and Stefon Diggs that happened in the Divisional Round of the playoffs had fans buying into the possibility that Minnesota would reach the promised land.

However, that wasn’t the case. The Vikings were handed the butt-kicking at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in the Conference Championships, ending any hope of hoisting a Lombardi Trophy for the very first time in franchise history.

The disappointment has hit Vikings fans hard, but ESPN reports that team owner Zygi Wilf still feels excited about the future of the franchise and encourages fans that the team will return to the playoffs soon.

"“They [Vikings fans] are the best fans in the world,” Wilf said. “Wherever we go, we appreciate their support and one day soon, we will get to the Lombardi.”"

More from The Viking Age

Of course, it is hard to accept that the Vikings won’t be representing the NFC in Super Bowl 52. But the youth of the team should have the team’s owners, players, coaches, and fans excited about the future of the franchise.

"“We’ve been in the business for 13 years and we have our ups and downs,” Zygi Wilf said. “Sure, it’s a couple days but afterward you look at the future and you realize that we’re at the top of the game and we’ll be knocking at the door many times.”"

Wilf says that while the team is excellent, the fans are great as well. In fact, he states that he is proud of the team’s followers and how they always seem to represent the team well even when the franchise wasn’t always as good as it is now.

"“I’m most proud of our Vikings fans, because they really come out everywhere, wherever we go. I have to say that a good part of our success is the fans coming out and supporting us. Year after year, even after these tough losses, to see that passion really energizes me and my family and our team.”"
