The former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver was among those selected on Saturday to be a part of the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

It only took one game for people around the NFL to realize how special a player Randy Moss was. In his very first regular season game as a member of the Minnesota Vikings in 1998, Moss caught four passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The former Vikings receiver went on to spend 14 years in the NFL and all he did was finish with a total of 982 catches (15th-most in league history) for 15,292 yards (fourth-most) and 156 touchdowns (second-most).

He is clearly one of the best (if not the best) pass-catchers to step on a football field and on Saturday, Moss was given the ultimate recognition for his accomplishments in the NFL as he was included among those chosen for the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

More from The Viking Age

Along with the former Minnesota receiver, this year’s class includes Ray Lewis, Terrell Owens, Brian Urlacher, Brian Dawkins, Jerry Kramer, Bobby Beathard, and Robert Brazile. This was Moss’ first year on the Hall of Fame ballot and he is the first wide receiver to get voted in during his first year of eligibility since Jerry Rice in 2010.

Yes, Moss spent time with a number of NFL teams, but his years with Minnesota are some of the most memorable of his career. His ability to make time-stopping play after play in the early 2000s are why a ton of people are Vikings fans today, including myself.

Every time he stepped on the field, Moss was capable of making a complete fool out of the defender attempting to cover him. Just ask DeAngelo Hall.

Everyone who watched Moss make mind-blowing catches during his NFL career knew he was unlike anything before him. With his upcoming enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer, he will officially be considered among the absolute greatest to ever play the game.
