The Minnesota Vikings were awarded two compensatory picks for the 2018 NFL Draft based on the free agents they lost and signed during the previous offseason.

The NFL Draft is an exciting time for every team in the league, including the Minnesota Vikings, who are looking to make all the right moves to push their franchise toward being Super Bowl contenders.

In order to be competitive, the Vikings will need to be smart in free agency and make the best possible use of their selections at the 2018 NFL Draft. That means maximizing their picks and bringing in the best talent possible.

In addition to the draft picks the Vikings earned from being eliminated in the Conference Championship round of the NFL playoffs, Minnesota was awarded compensatory picks as well.

More from The Viking Age

According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin on Twitter, the Vikings will have two additional selections in the sixth round to use as they wish. In the past, these picks were not allowed to be traded. However, the rules were changed heading into the 2017 NFL Draft to allow them to be used to maneuver around the draft board.

Here is a list of the selections the Vikings will have available in the 2018 NFL Draft according to the team’s official website and Sean Borman of Vikings Territory:

  • Round 1 – Pick #30
  • Round 2 – Pick #62
  • Round 3 – Pick #94
  • Round 5 – Pick #130
  • Round 6 – Pick #204
  • Round 6 – Pick #213
  • Round 6 – Pick #218
