Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen makes PFF Top 101 of 2017 list

Wide receiver Adam Thielen continues to impress for the Minnesota Vikings and his efforts during the 2017 NFL season were recognized by Pro Football Focus.

By now, everyone has heard the story of Adam Thielen and his battle from high school standout to becoming an unrecruited college player who eventually got signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent.

His rise to fame is a true underdog story, and his amazing efforts during the 2017 season just add to the great drama. Last year, he became the first Vikings wide receiver to be a 1,000-yard receiver since Sidney Rice in 2009.

The excellent season of Thielen was recently recognized by Pro Football Focus when they released their list of the Top 101 players of 2017 on their official website, placing him at the #78 position on the countdown.

Here is what they had to say about Thielen in the article:

"“[Thielen] had a top-5 contested catch rate and tied for the second-best production rate in the slot. Thielen gained 2.11 yards per route run inside, trailing only Pittsburgh’s JuJu Smith-Schuster.”"

While he only caught 4 touchdowns during the 2017 season, but he was clearly the favorite target of quarterbacks, who targeted him 143 times. He also caught 91 of those passes and was able to pick up a first down on 59 of those receptions according to ESPN.

PFF also offered their ‘Elite Stat’ for Thielen.

"“Among wide receivers with at least 120 routes run from the slot, Thielen finished tied for second with an average 2.11 yards per route run.”"
