Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman will speak at this week’s NFL Combine
By Adam Patrick
The head coach and general manager of the Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to answer questions from the NFL media on Wednesday and Thursday.
The NFL offseason is full of speculation and that is just one of the aspects that make it very entertaining for a number of football fans. Sometimes though, speculation actually turns into reality.
Could this be the case when Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman talk to the media at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine this week?
Probably not.
Zimmer and Spielman will certainly be asked about the team’s potential moves this offseason, specifically their quest to find a starting quarterback. But don’t expect to learn much from their answers.
In recent years, the two have become masters of giving up as little information to the public as they possibly can. To their credit though, it has lead to the Vikings winning the NFC North in two of Zimmer’s four years as the team’s head coach.

Spielman will speak to the media first this week as he’s scheduled to take the podium at 11:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, February 28. Zimmer will answer questions on the following day, March 1, at 11:15 a.m. ET.
This will be Zimmer’s first press conference since January 23 when he closed out Minnesota’s 2017 season.
It should at least be interesting to hear the head coach’s thoughts on the additions of John DeFilippo and Todd Downing to the offensive coaching staff this year. Perhaps he will reveal what Downing’s actual duties will be as the Vikings’ senior offensive assistant.

But then again, probably not.
