The Minnesota Vikings will reportedly not try and toll the quarterback’s current deal, making him a free-agent when the new league year begins.

It’s been two full seasons since Teddy Bridgewater started in an NFL game. Well now, it looks like his next start has a chance to come with another team other than the Minnesota Vikings.

Since the Vikings did not add Bridgewater to the active roster until Week 10, there was a possibility that the team could have tried to toll the quarterback’s current contract this offseason. This would have kept Bridgewater signed in Minnesota through 2018.

However, it doesn’t look like the Vikings will be attempting to toll the quarterback’s current deal according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.

Based on the report, it appears that Bridgewater will become a free-agent in 2018 for the very first time in his NFL career.

This does not by any means rule out a return to Minnesota this year for the quarterback.

It will just have to be done with a new contract now.

It has been estimated that a yearly salary for Bridgewater at this point would probably be around $6 million. Which could turn into a bargain for whatever team he ends up with in 2018.

Wherever he goes this year, his deal will probably packed with incentives and be no longer than three years. The risk factor with his knee is still too large at this point for a team to sign Bridgewater to a long-term contract this offseason.

As he prepares to hit free agency for the first time ever, it is now a definite possibility that the quarterback has already taken his last snap in a Vikings uniform.
