Having a top-notch head coach can help any NFL franchise succeed and Mike Zimmer of the Minnesota Vikings is one of the best according to Rotoworld.

There are many keys to establishing a strong NFL franchise. Choosing the right players and calling the right plays have a lot to do with it, but there is the need for strong leadership in the front office as well as on the field.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has been successful since being given an opportunity in the land of 10,000 lakes. He has helped to lead the team to a 39-25 record in his four seasons and earned two NFC North Championships in that time.

Recently, Rotoworld revealed a list titled NFL’s Best Coaches 2018 where Mike Zimmer found himself in the #8 spot. Here is the top 12 as shared on a graphic by Sunday Night Football on NBC:

Many of the coaches ranked higher than Zimmer make total sense. It would be crazy to have him ranked higher than Bill Belichick or Doug Pederson, but there are definite cases to be made for him to be above John Harbaugh or Ron Rivera.

Despite that, it is great to see Mike Zimmer among the best NFL coaches. And considering everything he wants to achieve with the franchise, he has plenty of room to move up next year. In addition, he was ranked #15 last year, marking a significant improvement.

Here is what Rotoworld had to say about Zimmer’s ability to make the franchise better and what he provides for the team as they look ahead to the 2018 NFL season:

"“After four years, it’s clear what Zimmer provides. Both his defensive prowess and leadership are amongst the best in the NFL. He has brought the Vikings to within a quarterback of being something special. Even if Keenum remains the starter for 2018, Zimmer has established a floor capable of touching the Super Bowl ceiling.”"

It is debatable as to whether or not the 8th spot on the list is too high or too low for Mike Zimmer, but as long as he is the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, the team should always be a contender in the NFC North and the NFL.
