Minnesota Vikings receiver among Pro Football Focus top 25 under 25
By Adam Carlson
Pro Football Focus released their Top 25 Under 25 and included Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs among the young, talented players.
The Minnesota Vikings have been doing a great job of drafting or acquiring young, talented players and developing them to fit into their schemes. General manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer assembled an amazing roster with many notable contributors using those individuals.
Among those players helping to make the Vikings a serious postseason contender is the franchise’s fifth-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Maryland, wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Recently, Pro Football Focus released their list of the Top 25 players under 25 years old heading into the 2018 season and placed Diggs at 15th on the list as the only player representing Minnesota.
The analytic website has a lot of praise for the receiver who will be 25 on November 29th, discussing his continued improvement and current accolades.
"“Diggs has been nothing but solid during his first three years in the NFL. In 2017, he elevated his game into “very good” territory by earning the eighth-highest wide receiver grade at 85.4 overall which landed him on the PFF Top 101 for the first time.”"
When talking about the best pass catchers in the NFL, names like Julio Jones, DeAndre Hopkins, and Odell Beckham Jr. dominate the conversation. Meanwhile, Minnesota’s 6-foot tall and 194-pound receiver continues to make a name for himself.
"“For a smaller receiver, Diggs sure has a knack for helping out his quarterback leading all receivers in contested catch rate in 2017 (64.9 percent).”"
Diggs gained national and global attention after catching a pass from Case Keenum in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs in a play that has gone on to be called the Minneapolis Miracle but has become regularly known for being able to make big plays out of routine catches.
Interestingly enough, a regular on these lists the last few years has been Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter is missing this year. However, at age 23, Hunter still has quite a bit of time to return to this list next year.
Next: Way too early Vikings 2018 record prediction
Congratulations to Stefon Diggs and the Minnesota Vikings for appearing on the Pro Football Focus list of the top 25 players under 25 years old entering the 2018 NFL season. Hopefully, more players from the franchise will be appearing on the countdown when the 2019 campaign approaches.
