Many former Minnesota Vikings have sounded the Gjallarhorn over the history of the franchise but can current players spell the name of iconic team symbol?

Minnesota Vikings players have a lot of responsibility. They need to stay in shape, know the playbook, continues to hone their craft, and much more.  One thing they do not need to do very well: Spelling words.

The Vikings love having some fun when Scripps National Spelling Bee is going on. They often see if players can spell the name of a teammate like Moritz Böhringer or Ifeadi Odenigbo, but this time they went for a team symbol.

In a video shared on the team’s official YouTube channel, players attempted to spell the name of the huge horn that sounds before games and after first downs, the Gjallarhorn. Watch the fun video:

Let’s be honest, this is NOT an easy word to spell. In fact, it is one of those words that you either know how to spell because you’ve seen it so many times or you’ll have absolutely no idea and miss that silent ‘J’ from Norse mythology.

The initial reactions of many players were right. Tackling a word like that can be a huge challenge, and one that is better walked away from than attempted if you aren’t sure of the word. Some didn’t even offer an attempt, but the ones that did provide some great spelling variations.

Pat ElfleinSheldon Richardson, Kentrell Brothers, and Stephen Weatherly learning that there is a ‘J’ in there were some of the best parts of the video.

Add in the always-entertaining Everson Griffen who got some outside help and those who found the silent letter but missed the first ‘R’, and you have a lot of fun incorrect answers.

There were players who got the spelling right on the first try. Strangely enough, David Morgan and Kyle Rudolph (two tight ends) hit the nail on the head and impressively and systematically gave the correct answer.
