Chad Greenway was known for his philanthropy during his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings and his sense of community continues through his retirement.
News of Chad Greenway doing great things as charitable acts is something fans of the Minnesota Vikings is something fans saw happening often during his time as a starting linebacker for the franchise.
The Lead The Way Foundation was established in 2008 by Greenway and is best known for its three major programs: TendHER Heart Luncheon, Field of Dreams, and Chad’s Locker. Each program focuses on some aspect of helping ill or physically challenged children and their families a little easier.
Greenway spent 10 seasons with Minnesota before he retired from football, earning two Pro Bowl nods during that time and accumulating 760 total tackles, 18 sacks, 11 interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns, but perhaps his greatest successes came at Children’s Minnesota.
Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota has received several of Chad’s Lockers and been visited on many occasions by the former linebacker. And that trend continued with a donation of a new playground at the Minneapolis campus of Children’s.
Check out the video from the playground as shared on the ABC 5 Eyewitness News website:
The playground is handicapped accessible and features slides, ramps, and many other interactive toys and games for children to play with outside at the hospital.
"“This is just a small idea of how we can help,” Greenway says in the video. “It’s something simple and basic, but something that can really be groundbreaking for some folks…especially when you spend a lot of time in the hospital.”"
It’s programs and gestures like this which highlight how great of a person Greenway really is. Helping those whose days need a little brightening is the mark of a person who truly cares about those his charity reaches.

The Minnesota Vikings do a great of great things for communities, but it’s how the franchise is able to create an environment of giving back that helps to make this team go above and beyond off the football field, and Chad Greenway is a great example of that.
