Rashod Hill has done an admirable job filling in when asked on the Minnesota Vikings offensive line but now he’s making changes and hopes to be a starter.

Being an offensive lineman is a thankless job in the NFL. As one of the most physically demanding positions in the league, injuries happen all the time. Sadly, this is something fans of the Minnesota Vikings know all too well.

One important piece of the line for Minnesota is Rashod Hill, who has been plugged in at multiple spots during his two years with the Vikings when other players went down with injuries, providing some flashes of brilliance along with some disappointing outings.

With 12 games played and 7 starts under his belt in two years, Rashod Hill is hoping to take the next step in his career and move from swing tackle to grabbing one of the starting spots on the offensive line.

Hill is working hard to accomplish this, working out regularly and polishing his technique. He also made a change to his diet, something he discussed on the official website of the Minnesota Vikings recently.

"“Just changing some eating habits and leaving fried food alone and having one cheat day. It helped me out a lot. I’m seeing results so I’m trying to stick to it.”"

Even minor changes in a diet can have a huge impact on the human body. Hill’s new way of looking at his diet but still being able to reward himself should pay off in a big way and open the door for even more improvements in his game.

Hill also spoke about his background involving fried foods and why making that change was so important to him.

"“Being from the South, I ate a lot of fried foods. I like a lot of fried foods. I learned that what you put in your body is what you’re going to get out, so putting the right stuff in your body is going to help you in the long run.”"

These changes are definitely a step in the right direction for Rashod Hill, but earning a starting job will still be an uphill climb. It should be assumed that Riley Reiff will be the starting left tackle with center Pat Elflein returning to his spot. Mike Remmers will likely get one spot along with Nick Easton, who was one of the best offensive linemen last year.

It should come down to Rashod Hill or rookie offensive lineman Brian O’Neill for the other starting spot, with O’Neill being the favorite. However, another factor will be where the Vikings plan on using Remmers in their formation since there is talk he could be moving inside to play the guard position.

Even if Rashod Hill doesn’t win a starting gig on the offensive line this season he will provide some solid depth in the event that the Minnesota Vikings suffer more injuries, making him an important part of the team during the 2018 season.
