Some members of the Minnesota Vikings traveled north of the border to encourage kids to be more active at a Play60 event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The Minnesota Vikings are known for giving back to the community. Their charitable efforts around the state involving children, hungry families, promoting well-being, and much more have had a major impact on many individuals.

However, their reach got even further when two current members of the team and one former player headed north to Winnipeg, Manitoba to help some kids understand how important it is to be physically active.

According to the official Twitter account of NFL Canada, fullback C.J. Ham, defensive end Tashawn Bower, and former defensive back Carl Lee were on hand in Canada on Saturday, July 14th, 2018 to work with kids for a Play60 event.

In the Twitter video, Ham says the Vikings are at the Rising Star Canada Combine, which is the name for events designed at helping to keep the next generation of athletes playing and keeping in shape.

While Minnesota was the team providing guests for the stop on the 14th in Winnipeg, other teams handled some of the other stops along Canada, including the Falcons in Toronto, Saints in Vancouver, Patriots in Halifax, 49ers in Calgary, and the Texans, Falcons, and Steelers in Langley.

David Thomson, Managing Director for NFL Canada spoke on the official NFL website about the goal of Play60 Canada and why it is important to share with as many individuals as possible during the program’s third year.

"“North and South of the border, NFL PLAY 60 is dedicated to helping youth learn the importance of living a healthy and active life. Our goal is to encourage our youngest generations to grow both in, and out of, the game. Additionally, visiting cities across Canada allows us to recognize the efforts occurring at the grassroots level of the game, and acknowledge the daily commitment parents, coaches and players make.”"

In some more fun videos from Twitter, Tashawn Bower asked some kids if they were having a good time.

Also, some of the kids attending the event posed with the Canadian flag and thanked the Minnesota Vikings for being there.

It’s great to see these Minnesota Vikings players taking time out of their busy schedules to spend some time with kids in Canada at the Play 60 event. Hopefully, this also will encourage some young people from Winnipeg to start being fans of the purple and gold, since it’s always great to build the team’s fan base.
