4. Vikings welcome Peterson back (2017)

For the first time since the 2006 season, the Vikings took the field in 2017 without running back Adrian Peterson as a member of their franchise.

Prior to the beginning of the 2017 regular season, Minnesota opted to part ways with Peterson and the veteran rusher ended up signing a deal with the New Orleans Saints. Conveniently enough, the Saints happened to be traveling to Minnesota for their first game of the year against the Vikings.

There was a bunch of hype surrounding Peterson’s return to the Vikings’ home stadium, especially after he said he wanted to, “stick it,” to his old team for letting him go during the offseason.

Well any ideas Peterson had of running all over Minnesota were quickly put to a stop in his return to U.S. Bank Stadium. The Vikings held their former running back to just 18 yards on six carries.

The most memorable part of the night for Peterson was not any play he made on the field, but all the memes that were produced from the scowl he gave New Orleans head coach Sean Payton during the game.

On the other sideline, Minnesota had themselves a pretty fun time. Thanks to big performances from quarterback Sam Bradford and rookie running back Dalvin Cook, the Vikings were able to eventually leave the field with a 29-19 win over the Saints and Mr. Peterson.
