Treadwell may not make the final roster
No one on the Vikings’ roster has been given as many mulligans during their time with the team than Laquon Treadwell.
Every offseason comes with the same Treadwell-narrative that this is the year where he steps up and proves all of his doubters wrong. Well after three seasons, the 23-year-old pass catcher has the same amount of career receiving touchdowns as former Minnesota quarterback Brad Johnson (one).
This year may be a different story for Treadwell. But different in the fact that he might not be on the Vikings’ roster when they begin the regular season in September.
Treadwell is currently battling to be Minnesota’s No. 3 receiver for the second straight year. But unlike 2018, he has a lot more competition for the role this time.
New addition Jordan Taylor has been impressive so far and he’s had opportunities to work with the first-team offense in three-receiver sets. Brandon Zylstra and Chad Beebe are also back and looking to increase their playing time in 2019.
Unless someone gets hurt, Treadwell is likely going to need a very impressive showing during training camp and the preseason to get a spot on the Vikings’ final 2019 roster.
