Despite the campaigning of many, the former Minnesota Vikings defensive end has not yet been enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
We recently posted an article looking at a few former Minnesota Vikings players that deserve to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. One name that some felt was worthy of being included in the group is former Vikings defensive end Jim Marshall.
However, Marshall was not one of the four former Minnesota players who were selected. How could that be? How could a guy who still has the second-most sacks in Vikings history not be worthy of a Hall of Fame induction?
Marshall started 270 games for Minnesota, he is a part of the team’s Ring of Honor, and he was a member of the Vikings’ starting defense during each of their four Super Bowl appearances.
Three of his former Minnesota teammates on the defensive side of the ball have been enshrined into the Hall of Fame (Carl Eller, Alan Page, Paul Krause). So why no Marshall?
Let’s look a little further into some of the reasons why the former Vikings pass rusher has yet to be given his own gold jacket from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
