Latavius Murray – RB

During the past two seasons, the Vikings had to deal with running back Dalvin Cook catching the injury bug more often than not. Luckily for Minnesota though, they had Latavius Murray as their No. 2 back and he did a solid job filling in for Cook.

In addition to his role as a backup, Murray did well whenever the Vikings turned to him in short-yardage situations. Now he’s with the New Orleans Saints though and figuring out who will take over as Cook’s backup for 2019 will be one of Minnesota’s top priorities this summer.

In contention for the role is rookie Alexander Mattison, Ameer Abdullah, Mike Boone, and Roc Thomas. Even if the Vikings find someone who can match Murray’s production, they’ll still be missing their former running back’s experience.

If Cook ends up missing time again next season, Minnesota better hope that their new backup can come in and give them solid production like Murray did over the last two years.
