Marcus Sherels – PR
Whoever the Vikings choose to be their punt returner in 2019, it won’t be Marcus Sherels. For the first time since he entered the NFL in 2010, Sherels won’t be taking the field in a purple Minnesota uniform next season.
Instead, he’s currently a member of the New Orleans Saints and the Vikings are left attempting to figure out who will be their punt returner in 2019.
Minnesota has a number of candidates to fill the role including Chad Beebe, Mike Hughes, and Brandon Zylstra. But will the new returner be able to be as reliable for the Vikings as Sherels was during his tenure with the team?
Minnesota never really had to sweat much when Sherels was out on the field to return a punt. It was just one less aspect of the team that the Vikings had to worry about.
But with him gone now, Minnesota may start to stress whenever their punt return unit goes out onto the field in 2019. Sherels may not be that big of a guy, but the Vikings’ next punt returner definitely has some very big shoes to fill.
