CBS Sports just published their Top 100 players heading into the upcoming season as defensive end Danielle Hunter proudly represented the Minnesota Vikings at No. 25.
It’s that time of year, football fans! CBS Sports just published their Top 100 players heading into the upcoming season as the Minnesota Vikings had several players make the cut. In total, five players made the list with defensive end Danielle Hunter being ranked the highest at No. 25.
In an article written by Pete Prisco of CBS Sports, safety Harrison Smith, running back Dalvin Cook, linebacker Eric Kendricks, and quarterback Kirk Cousins joined Hunter in representing Vikings Nation nicely. This is one heck of a solid core to be proud of as expectations are high for the Vikings to once again be playoff contenders in 2020.
Entering his sixth season with the Vikings, Hunter is playing at an incredible level, coming off two straight seasons of totaling 14.5 sacks. So far in his career, he’s been a human tackling machine with 276 tackles, 54.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles.

It’s easy to see that Hunter landed where he did on the Top 100 players listed by CBS Sports due to everything he brings to the table. He’s already been to the Pro Bowl twice and is developing nicely as a great locker room leader. Hunter brings speed, aggression, and is one of the bright spots on the Vikings’ defensive line as a premier edge rusher.
The Vikings have added a ton of new talent on defense this offseason in order to build a supporting cast around players like Hunter. Hopefully, they’ll have some hidden gems in the rough as the defense has been an ongoing issue for the Vikings for a while now.
Of course, this is mostly on their defensive secondary but Hunter can’t do it all on his own as some extra pass rushers will only help the cause. Considering that Hunter is entering some of the prime years of his career shows that the best has yet to come as his potential is through the roof to continue developing into an all-around elite defensive end.
Overall, it’s great to see Hunter and the rest of his teammates on the Vikings get the recognition they deserve based on last season’s success. Hunter leads the pack as one player to always keep an eye on come game day as he’s only going to get better with time. Here’s to seeing Hunter crack the top ten of next year’s Top 100 players list on CBS Sports as all it takes is one breakout year to be considered in such a high bracket of recognition.
